Joys

There was a time when I refrained from temporary joys just because they were temporary and I was in search of an eternal joy. I was in search of a joy that would keep me happy and joyous for a lifetime.

But the fact of life is that nothing is permanent. Something that gives me extreme pleasure now, will not remain the same after sometime. I might not be so excited about the same thing as time passes by. Something else would be more exciting to me
then.

So, instead of not enjoying the temporary joys and searching for something eternal, it is wiser to enjoy the present, even though it may be temporary. But who cares? The motto of life is to live every moment to the fullest and enjoy every minute.

So enjoying all the temporary joys would make life an exciting journey with different kinds of joys. After all, variety is the spice of life! ;-)

Life is such a joy! :)

Life...an update.

  • Mood: Optimism
  • Listening to: Dandiya beats
  • Reading: Zoology
  • Playing: With kids.
  • Drinking: From my blue bottle.
There was a moment when I thought I had lost everything, everything including myself. There was a time when I yearned to smile, but could not. A time when everything around was dark and I thought that all the joys had perished and there was just nothing left, except an illusion, my life... a dead one.

Things have changed. Something which I thought was my life, no more matters to me now. There were things that I thought I could never live without, but I am still living well... without them. There should be something in life worth dying for, I thought then. But now, I find maturity in the strength to detach, the ability to live at peace, even without the most cherished passion, the most loved person.

I am living those joyous moments again, which once I thought would never come back to me. I can still dance like no one's watching, still smile with my eyes, still walk on the middle of the road, as if I own the world.
I still love my past.

Welcoming the rain!

  • Watching: Happy people around
  • Eating: Hot jalebi
Was coming back from a walk with my friend. Telling her how eagerly I had been waiting for the rains to come. It was too humid throughout the day, but the weather began to change by late evening. By 8:30, the ambience had become cool and there was nice breeze blowing. She happily said, "Hey, just now a drop of water fell on me." I laughed over her and replied, "Must have been the crow!" ;)
We were coming back from our favourite coffee shop... a talk over a nice refreshing walk... had an awesome time together..... and yes, it started drizling. We were highly excited with the smell of wet mud and the happiness around!
I shouted, "Welcome rains, Mumbai welcomes you!" :)
It was 9 and my cell sang, "Om Sweet Home calling"
Had to return home. Nevertheless, my balcony was another lovely place to spend some lovely time alone, with the nature. Messaged all my dear friends a happy rainy season and spread the joy around...

Case Studies and lessons to be learned

Sun Apr 9, 2006, 10:25 PM
Old ones but really worth a read..

Difference between Focusing on Problems and Focusing on
Solutions

Case 1

When NASA began the launch of astronauts into space, they found out
that the pens wouldn't work at zero gravity (ink won't flow down to the
writing surface). To solve this problem, it took them one decade and $12
million. They developed a pen that worked at zero gravity, upside down,
underwater, in practically any surface including crystal and in a temperature range
from below freezing to over 300 degrees C.

And what did the Russians do...?? They used a pencil.

Case 2

One of the most memorable case studies on Japanese management was the
case of the empty soapbox, which happened in one of Japan's biggest
cosmetics companies. The company received a complaint that a consumer had bought a soapbox that was empty. Immediately the authorities isolated the problem to the assembly line, which transported all the packaged boxes of soap to the delivery department. For some reason, one soapbox went through the assembly line empty. Management asked its engineers to solve the problem. Post-haste, the engineers worked hard to devise an X-ray machine with high-resolution monitors manned by two people to watch all the
soapboxes that passed through the line to make sure they were not empty. No doubt, they worked hard and they worked fast but they spent a whoopee amount to do so.

But when a rank-and-file employee in a small company was posed with the
same problem, he did not get into complications of X-rays, etc., but
instead came out with another solution. He bought a strong industrial
electric fan and pointed it at the assembly line. He switched the fan
on, and as each soapbox passed the fan, it simply blew the empty boxes out
of the line.

Moral : Always look for simple solutions.

Devise the simplest possible solution that solves the problems

Always Focus on solutions & not on problems

So the end of the day the thing that really matters is HOW ONE LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM, mere perceptions can solve the tough probs...

Peace to all.:peace:
